This role will own Exotel’s legal strategy across contracts,  compliance, litigation risk, corporate governance, and internal advisory, while building scalable legal playbooks aligned to long term business goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited for a commercially minded legal professional with strong experience in B2B services  and fast-growing technology companies.

Key Responsibilities

Business & Commercial Advisory

  • Lead and manage all commercial, service, and enterprise agreements, including customer, vendor, partner, and procurement contracts.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business, finance, HR, and leadership teams on legal, regulatory, and risk matters. • Enable deal velocity while ensuring appropriate risk assessment, mitigation, and contractual safeguards. • Translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, business-friendly guidance.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate legal, regulatory, and litigation risks across geographies.
  • Own and strengthen compliance frameworks, including ethics, integrity, ABAC, and internal governance standards.
  • Stay abreast of changes in law, regulations, and relevant case law; ensure timely adoption across the organisation.
  • Support corporate governance, board matters, audits, and statutory obligations.

Policy, Playbooks & Scale

  • Design and implement legal playbooks, SOPs, and contract templates to support scale and speed.
  • Redraft and modernise existing policies and practices in line with long-term business strategy.
  • Drive standardisation while allowing flexibility for high-impact or complex transactions.

People & Capability Building

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house legal team.
  • Identify capability gaps and implement structured training and upskilling programs.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, business partnership, and high legal standards.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience & Background

  • 10–12 years of total legal experience, including meaningful exposure to startup or high-growth environments.
  • Strong background in B2B services; buy-side experience is an added advantage.
  • Deep expertise in managing commercial, service, and enterprise contracts.
  • Proven experience partnering with senior stakeholders while balancing business outcomes and risk protection. Skills & Competencies
  • Outstanding legal and business judgment, especially in ambiguous or fast-moving situations.
  • Ability to assess the size, scope, and risk of transactions and tailor contracts accordingly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • High degree of independence, ownership, and decisiveness, with comfort operating in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with practical, outcome-oriented solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable legal frameworks rather than one-off solutions.

What We Look For at Exotel

  • Strong alignment with Exotel’s values and a collaborative, stakeholder-first mindset.
  • Ability to balance legal rigour with business pragmatism.
  • Comfort working with minimal supervision while taking complete ownership of outcomes.
  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, staying current with legal and industry developments.
  • A business-oriented legal leader who enables growth, not just controls risk.
